I had similar problems with ACPI and the "ACPI Error (psparse-0517): Method parse/execution failed" with my Asus A6VC laptop, but it affected my irda device instead of the network cards as in your case.
Booting with the "pnpacpi=off" kernel parameter solved the issue (now dmesg says that my pnp bios is broken, but it's working now) Tested on dapper with the 2.6.15 kernel series and with a 2.6.18 "vanilla" kernel.
