Public bug reported:

Distro: Kubuntu 7.10 Gutsy.

I had some time ago selfmade kernel package (made with "make-kpkg
--initrd ..."). Later I purged it with aptitude. Today I was doing
system upgrade (aptitude upgrade) and it didn't finish because of dpkg
error caused by update-initramfs trying to regenerate images for
nonexistent kernel.

To fix this I had to manually delete files related with the kernel from
/var/lib/initramfs-tools.
