I couldn't think of any, but after a quick search for other bugs about
this issue I found this recently reported bug: bug 187906.
It is also about a game not playing correctly in 320x240. If it is
possible, try to duplicate that bug with your original (non-working)
xorg.conf settings and your new (working) xorg.conf settings.
