I'm having the same problem with rhythmbox. Everytime I launch it says
codecs are needed to play back some file, but upon launching gnome-
codec-install, it says there is no suitable plugin available.
Rythmbox terminal output as follows:
Rhythmbox-Message: Missing plugin: gstreamer|0.10|rhythmbox-metadata|MPEG-4 AAC
decoder|decoder-audio/mpeg, mpegversion=(int)4, framed=(boolean)true (ignoring)
Rhythmbox-Message: All missing plugins are blacklisted, doing nothing
This is pretty annoying, though as original reporter noted, installing
gstreamer-0.10-plugins-bad manually fixes the problem.
Bug seen in hardy, rhythmbox-0.11.4-0ubuntu6, gnome-app-
install-0.5.2.4-0ubuntu1.
** Changed in: gnome-app-install (Ubuntu)
