Yes, I have no "error messages" either, just a blinking cursor and no other stuff. There is no sign for segfault either in kernel log buffer (dmesg), and before launched gdm but after having console login, I can log in and check output of top: usplash is running but uses all otherwise idle CPU ... So I thing it's quite different bug than the one describing segfault and messages on the screen ... However many people compain about this with nvidia/amd64, so somewhat related, imho.
