Public bug reported:
hi.. this is a very annoiyng bug existing since ubuntu 7.4 but even
worst in 7.10
here it is:
1 - opening nautilus on a specific folder containing .eps images (it is
supposed to give a preview of the image)
2 - opening a website (with firefox) with a flash presentation
3 - opening simultaneously several big images on gimp
in these three cases the hard disk starts to work so hevily that the mouse and
the keyboard progressively stop to respond.
after 20 seconds there is no chance to close the window causing the problem or
even to move to the shell.
I have to reboot from power button.
only one time I was enough lucky to receive, after opening a website with some
flash, a message of the kind "a script is blocking firefox.. do you want to
stop its execution?".. or something similar.
anyway some other web flash presentation do not generate the problem.
It seems that the 3 couse are scorrelate, but the behaviour of the
system is exactly the same.. as I run out of memory and swap space
toghether.
I have a Toshiba m40x with 512MB memory and 2GB swap
For any further information i need guidance.
bye
