Public bug reported:
Using a Sony Viao desktop and 7.10, the computer will hibernate fine
approximately 4-10 times, then simply stop. No obvious errors are
generated. The logs indicate that the computer does go through the
hibernate process, but seems to abort it and wake up before finishing.
The computer would not hibernate or standby until I added "ehci_hcd" to
the "modules" line in acpi-support. I initially thought this further
problem was due to ndiswrapper, but acpi-support configuration did not
improve, and eventual removal of ndiswrapper also had no effect. As I
examine the logs, the only difference I can see is that (perhaps) the
times it works the usb hubs are being properly shut down, while the
times it doesn't the hubs are not. I've no idea why it works for a
while and then stops. Attached is a file containing several examples
from the message log of hibernations that worked; I'll also post a file
containing a couple of examples of hibernation events that failed (i.e.,
computer immediately resumed). I should note that although all the
examples are hibernation, I think Suspend also shows the same behavior.
