Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: qemu

The LiveCD splash screen crashes under qemu when -smp 2 is given. I have
tested qemu with the dapper, hardy and gutsy-ia64 LiveCDs, with and
without kqemu

With
  qemu -m 256 -cdrom ~/images/ubuntu-6.06.1-desktop-i386.iso -boot d
qemu works correctly. The 30s timer appears and counts down

However, when I add the "-smp 2" option the splash screen appears, but
the 30s timer does not appear and the VM does not respond to key
presses.

Workaround: Install the upstream qemu package:
    http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/qemu-0.9.1-i386.tar.gz
(upstream installs to /usr/local/, so do not need to remove the qemu-0.9.0
package first)
