Public bug reported:
This is the second time I've gotten the "black screen of death". This
has never previously occurred prior to a day or two ago. I'm running a
standard, up-to-date Gutsy Ubuntu on a Dell Latitude D820.
Apparently the kernel is crashing. The symptoms:
I'm moving the mouse pointer on the screen, The mouse pointer and screen
freezes for a second or two, then everything shuts down as if I'd pulled
the plug (however this is a laptop). By which I mean that the screen
turns black and the hard disk spins down.
I rebooted without problems and captured all files in /var/log which
were changed since just before the crash, if you think any of them would
be of interest.
Can you suggest anything to do if this occurs again, so I can add to
this report
