** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: usplash

I'm running 7.10 beta. Basically, on shutdown I get a blank screen.
Usplash is fine on boot up. I have tried the workaround of adding
vga=791 to the end of the line for my kernel (2.6.22-14 generic) which
is a method which has worked since 7.04. I have an Acer aspire 3003
laptop with an integrated SiS chip. Usplash was always fine in Edgy,
faulty but fixable in Feisty and looks completely broken in Gutsy for my
  laptop.
