Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: adept-updater

Suspect a dependency problem in the updater packages...

Tried this twice, same result each time:

1) Remove all Linux partitions from disk (IDE, 160 GB disk on Dell C400
laptop with existing Win XP partition)

2) Do a clean install of Gutsy 7.10 Kubuntu, accepting pretty well all
the defaults. Create new partition using all contiguous free space (90
Gigs or so).

3) Boot up the new system - looks nice :-)

4) Allow Adept Updater to download and install all 158 updates.

RESULT:

A. Updater downloads it all, gets partway through installing the
updates, then reports it cannot continue because a package failed to
install, possibly because the update would break something

B. Also see message offering to update me to 7.10 (which I have just
installed the ISO of!!). Ignored that one ;-)

C. Rebooting now impossible: File not found very early in boot process
(prior to kernel load)

** Affects: adept (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
