Public bug reported: I have the HP Color LaserJet 3600DN and have set it up with hp-setup. hp-setup finds the printer on my network and offers me to download a plug-in. I agree and after the plug-in got downloaded I choose the PPD file which tells "plug-in required". After that I open system-config- printer and select "Best" color printing quality for this printer. When printing a test page the printer makes some noise, does not print anything and gives the message "Chosen personality not available" on its front panel display.
With another PPD file without "plug-in required" the printer works but there is no "Best" mode to choose. I get the highest quality mode working using the third-party driver "pxljr" (Install the "pjlxr" package if you do not find the driver in Ubuntu, or http://hp-pxl-jetready.sourceforge.net/ for the source code). I encountered the problem on both Ubuntu Gutsy and Hardy, both 64-bit architecture. ** Affects: hplip Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: hplip (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - HP Color LaserJet 3600: "Best" printing mode with proprietary plug-in gives "" on printer's front panel + HP Color LaserJet 3600: "Best" printing mode with proprietary plug-in gives "Chosen personality not available" on printer's front panel -- HP Color LaserJet 3600: "Best" printing mode with proprietary plug-in gives "Chosen personality not available" on printer's front panel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/200147 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
