Public bug reported:
Have never been able to use external 1280 X 1024 Samasung 191T monitor
with Thinkpad Z61M 9450A38. Notebook display is 1280 X 800. After
Samsung install, initial display is 1280 X1024 on both screens. Reboot
fails to do Xwin. Frustration leads to new install of Kubuntu without
second display. Same result from Kubuntu 7 to Kubuntu 8.04. i would
buy 1920 X 1080 display for HD video display, but seems Kubuntu or X
can't handle it.
Current versions of kubuntu are better that initial versions of Kubuntu
7+ that would mutate to 1024 X 768 display or 800 X 600 display after
system updates. Repeatedly had to prune X config files to eliminate
lower resolutions, to resume normal 1280 X 800 operation.
Is problem due to Intel 945 video system or Samsung 191T external
display?
