Public bug reported:
A recent kernel update on Hardy (2.6.24-12.19 as of right now) broke the
sound functionality of Intel HDA (82801G controller) completely. All
sound-producing applications report that sound device is not available,
and some strange messages can be seen in syslog in the middle of bootup
process (output attached).
