By changing the kernel's timer configuration I've been able to work around the problem. I don't remember exactly the changes. If there's a need (e.g. other users are complaining as well) I can try to reproduce it. I can go into that if you think it's worth the effort (could become kind of a time consuming task). As far as I remember, zenity was stuck in a loop calling gettimeofday() with no intervening sleep() or something like that (i.e., it was in a busy loop waiting for an event). If there's no other demand, we can consider the issue as solved (at least as far as I'm concerned).
