Public bug reported:
Please excuse my newbieness,
I have upgraded to Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 and have been having this problem.
When I goto administration --> users and groups and attempt to unlock
settings, the authentication password prompt will not except my
password. I receive an error: Could not authenticate an unexpected
error has occured. This occurs for anything using the new
authentication settings.
This also occurs on my laptop at home running the same version, perhaps
because I'm using the same password. I have found that changing my
password resolves the issue. A sample password that causes the same
error would be %aaaaaaa.
I'm assuming its not accepting the % sign in the password.
