Public bug reported:

I noted (when I had no sound in 2.6.24-12.19) that when there is no
sound card, totem does not want to play videos.

When I try to play a video it echoes the following message and stops:
** Message: Error: Failed to connect stream: Invalid argument
    pulsesink.c(411): gst_pulsesink_prepare ():
/play/abin/audiosinkbin/audio-sink/bin6/autoaudiosink1/autoaudiosink1-actual-sink-pulse

where I expect to get a message there is no audio but be able to play
the video. The audio output in gstreamer-properties is set to auto.
There is no option for a "null" device or something like that. Version
of gstreamer-pulseaudio is 0.9.7-1.

** Affects: gstreamer0.10 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
