Changes in laptop-mode can not fix this, because laptop-mode is disabled
by default.

Even if enabled, you still have to explicitly set CONTROL_HD_POWERMGMT=1
in the configuration of laptop-mode.

BTW the reason why laptop-mode is fixing this problem is, that if the latter 
option is set, it calls hdparm -B with sane parameters. So it does the same as 
suggested before as a fix.
(But laptop-mode can not be enabled by default, because it is for laptops and 
because some models just freeze with it.)

Anyway, I blogged the solutions, I hope this gets resolved before
