Public bug reported:
inserting the 8.04 dvd mounts it at "/media/Ubuntu\ 8.04\ i386/". the
installer puts:
cat /etc/apt/sources.list
deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 8.04 _Hardy Heron_ - Alpha i386 (20080108)]/ hardy main
restricted
...
in the sources.list.
installing e.g. skype then fails with "cannot access cdrom".
i did the installation with the network cable unplugged, and it seems that this
confused the configuration somehow.
