Public bug reported:
The current version of maxima in dapper and edgy, 5.9.2, does not run on
powerpc platforms. This is well-documented here on launchpad.
To remain a serious distribution and be true to our users, we have to
ship things that work, not some phoney maxima that's there to --I don't
know what-- keep version parity with x86 platforms?
The 5.9.1-7 version from breezy/hoary does work, and is more useful to
our users than the current freezing app.
Also, this would resolve a lot of apparent bugs for our users; wxmaxima
and more can be installed, but doesn't work as the underlying maxima
package hangs.
Why betray our ppc users, and why has nothing been done yet, since at
least half a year of release management for dapper and edgy?
