Yes, I also have a Dell Inspiron (actually, the first series that Dell sold with Ubuntu pre-installed) and the intel wireless will not work. The light which comes on under 7.04 and 7.10 does not come on under 8.04 alpha 3.
I recently tried the Alpha 6 amd64 release, and it would not work either.
