On my Hardy Alpha 5 (updated yesterday 13th March) apt is still, although not
all the time, making apparent carriage returns without my intervention.
I will issue the 'sudo apt-get update', then 'sudo apt-get dist-upgrade' and
apt will give the following:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... 50%
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... 0%
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade
Done
The following packages will be upgraded:
list_of_packages
32 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 49.7MB of archives.
After this operation, 9028kB of additional space will be used.
Get:1 http://.......blah blah blah
The download continues as does the installing process. BUT notice the spaces
between the various outputs and the lack of any asking about the y/n option.
Actually I am sure that one day I was paying close attention and it did ask for
confirmation but before I could touch the keyboard, the confirmation
disappeared from the output and it continued as above.
