Update: maybe it is just my stupidity... When I reinstall Ubuntu, I relocate the /home directory to the old one by editing fstab. After this, the problem appears already, changing the /home back to the one that was created during the fresh install, everything works fine again. I had the impression that changing the /home like described doesn't do any harm, but apparently it does. Can anyone tel me what is wrong and what I should do (other than copying everythig from the old to the new /home?
