Same problem using Atheros AR5413 802.11abg NIC (rev 1)
Network manager hangs around until poked with iwpriv ath0 mode 3, or
iwconfig ath0 essid MYSSID..
Alternative workaround is to set router to support g only. Since doing
this NetworkManager connects automatically, BUT now knetworkmanager
repeatedly reports that it has found a new network even though it is
already connected. suspect this is something to do with bgscan??? This
happens consistently regardless of whether the wireless SSID is hidden
or not.
