Some updates: maybe I was wrong saying my bug is exactly the same: in
fact, I am able to login in "failsafe Gnome" mode.

Moreover, if in the boot screen I select "install", all goes smoothly
(I'm happily writing this from my new installed Hardy, and needed no
alternate CD).

When I rebooted the newly installed system, same behaviour: jingle,
desktop, then all disappears, jingle, desktop... and so on.

But then I entered in failsafe Gnome; again, it worked, I updated a
bunch of packages and the problem disappeared, I always login regularly.

So I expect to see my bug solved in the Beta Release in 4 days; instead,
I'm afraid my bug is not the same as Alex's (thought the description
seemed very similar).
