** Description changed:

  Resume do not work on SMP with more then 1GB if acpi-support scripts
  used. It have different crashes: some time PC will just freeze with
  black screen, some times kernel will ooops and some times wake up. It
  depend on how long PC was sleeping: 1 min - probably it will wake up, 3
  min - probably it will oops, more then 3 min - probably it will freeze.

- Hardware: Intel i945G +  2GB RAM ( 2x1GB Dual channal) + Pentium D 940
+ Hardware: ASUS P5LD2-VM >  Intel i945G +  2GB RAM ( 2x1GB Dual channal)
+ + Pentium D 940

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. It seems like you need this hardware combination.
  2. sync && /usr/sbin/pmi action suspend ( or use Gnome suspend button. )

  Working configurations or work arounds:

  - or use less memory. Unplug one RAM module or boot kernel with mem=1024
  ( all RAM modules ar OK, i checked it with memtest and it newer crash
  with application wich consume a lot of memory ) + sync &&
  /usr/sbin/pmi action suspend

  - or use only one cpu, boot with kernel option nospm + sync &&
  /usr/sbin/pmi action suspend

  - or before suspend disable one cpu and after resume enable it agene.
  "echo 0 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu1/online" + sync &&  /usr/sbin/pmi
  action suspend

  - or do not use acpi-support scrips and just "echo mem >
  /sys/power/state" ( kernel should be booted with
  acpi_sleep=s3_bios,s3_mode )

  Option like hpet=disable or clocksource=pit do not make any difference.
