Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acpi-support

Ubuntu version: 7.10
acpi-support version: 0.103
Computer: Thinkpad X41

This only happens when "System -> Preferences -> Power Management ->
When laptop lid is closed" is set to "Do nothing" or "Blank screen". In
these cases, when I close the lid, the correct thing happens, but when I
*open* the lid again, the system thinks the switch-video-mode button
(Fn-F7) has been pressed. Watching events with "lshal -m" shows:

16:04:39.439: platform_i8042_i8042_KBD_port_logicaldev_input condition
ButtonPressed = switch-videomode

happening when the lid is opened under these situations (but not when
it's opened from sleep). This means that the screen appears blank,
although I can switch to a console with Ctrl-Alt-Fx. Killing X with
Ctrl-Alt-BS brings the display back, as does pressing Fn-F7 twice to
cycle through video modes to get back to the right one. Similarly,
closing and reopening the lid twice also cycles through video modes to
bring the display back.

Let me know if there is any more information I can supply.

** Affects: acpi-support (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
