Public bug reported:

I am running Ubuntu Hardy Alpha 6. With latest updates.

Doing /usr/sbin/pm-suspend shuts my computer down looking good. When
powered back up, it does not boot. When rebooted, it says GRUB ERROR 17.

I booted from a Live CD and could not mount the root partition as it no
longer contained ext3.

I was able to run fsck -y -t ext3 /dev/sda and fix partition. However, a
few files were corrupted.

:root:~ ###parted /dev/sda print

Information: Don't forget to update /etc/fstab, if necessary.
