Public bug reported: First, here's my configuration :
Motherboard : Asus A8V-VM Proc : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 4000+ Graphics : Nvidia Geforce 7300 LE DDR : 1Go Sound chipset : VIA VT8251 On Gutsy, there was only the left speaker working, and the other one was emitting a stressing high pitched whistle each time a sound was player. This could be fixed hacking the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base adding this line : options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1 model=3stack Now running Hardy Beta 1, it seems the speaker bug is gone, but still, I have to hack the alsa-base file in order to get a microphone working.
