I had the same problem after upgrading my Dell XPS m1330 from Gutsy to Hardy pre-Beta from today.
The solution was easy: For some reason the front speaker were muted after the upgrade. They were not before the upgrade. I had to unmute it. Note: I also did a sudo apt-get --purge remove linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils and sudo apt-get install linux-sound-base alsa-base alsa-utils while searching for a solution before I found the muted speaker. I do not know whether this may also be needed, because I found the muted speaker only after performing these operations. -- No sound in Hardy alpha 5 in my Dell XPS m1330 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/196930 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
