Hey mburris, congratulations! I am really glad that this post has been useful to someone.
Answering your questions... I have to say I am no an expert, but as far as I can see: mountpoint=/cdrom or mountpoint=/whatEverYouWant indicates casper script where to mount the filesystem which holds ubuntu squash filesystem. This is a directory name, so I suggest using absoulte path, and avoiding problematic characters (like blank space, minus sign, brakets, etc. Uppercase should be ok). root= entry tells the kernel which device mount as root device. This is overridden by using initrd image, so I think it is not needed. At least I don't need it. ramdisk_size= ubuntu uses ram as a virtual disk for temp storage (it is lost if you shutdown your computer). This number tells how much ram to use for that purpose. This ram is not longer available for programs. If you don't specify anything ubuntu decides a nice size. If you specify more ram than you have, the system won't start up. > when the live environment boots, the restricted driver manager tells me that the nvidia driver is installed but not enabled, therefore compiz does not work. No idea about this. Maybe this "restricted driver manager" is configured to only allow kernel modules from some path, for example /cdrom. -- Poor man install on ntfs Gutsy Gibbon (Tribe 5) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/135029 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
