i don't recall the dhcp3 component being fixed. the issue "disappeared"
around the time network manager was introduced to ubuntu. based on this
my theory is that network manager works around this issue.

but this doesn't mean the bug is nessesarily fixed. if my theory is
correct then one would just need to remove network manager from the
system and the dhcp would be [EMAIL PROTECTED]'ed.
