Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: freepops

About half the time I turn on the computer, the freepops daemon does not
start. I'm not sure why it works some times and doesn't work other
times. In any case, running "sudo /etc/init.d/freepops start" fixes the
problem.

I've also noticed that when freepops hasn't started automatically, there
is a file /var/run/freepops.pid left over from the last session.
