Public bug reported:

Hey There.

When I installed Hardy Heron many things started to work - but one thing
started to annoy me.
Firefox is rendering the web pages REALLY slow. I am not talking about flash
and frame mazes we can find all over the internet - I am talking about google's
result pages. It should just scroll down instead it scrolls down with maybe 5
fps(I am trying to be realistic. I can see about five new pictures a second).
The method I use to scroll is not important. This is so annoying, that when i
read news and scroll down using the wheel firefox even starts to lag. then I
have to wait maybe 3 to 5 seconds until scrolling is finished - of course
having scrolled too far.

Which made me temporarilly switch to opera. There I encounter the same
problem - opera scrolls with maybe 4 fps, too - but does not lag. By
that I mean there are no locks-ups where the browser wants to go on
scrolling - it stops as I want.

Both of the problems can be "solved" running "metacity --replace". Then
- with both browsers I experience not a single frame skip. I feel free
like a bird.

Those problems did not occur with Gutsy Gibbon - at least not that
annoying that I could notice them. As I think now - without compiz
everything felt SO fluent - maybe rendering was very slow but the
lagging part was missing with gutsy.

Everything else works well with compiz - well and fluent. But a small
html file with a little text can finish off firefox. Deactivating every
single compiz plugin won't help - compiz just being turned on instead of
metacity causes this bug.
