Public bug reported:

The lirc package currently supplies generic lircd.conf files for popular
remote and set top boxes. An update to one of these files is necessary:

When selecting "Serial Port (UART) : Scientific Atlanta Cable box" the
file /usr/share/lirc/transmitters/scientificatlanta/general.conf is
selected -- dictated by the configuration file
/usr/share/lirc/transmitter.hwdb

This file does not follow naming conventions for lircd.conf and causes
errors in most programs which use it. Example:

             NUM_1 <<code>>
should be:
             1 <<code>>

A more popular file can be used (attached) which controls virtually all
Scientific Atlanta Cable boxes and is compliant with lirc standards.

** Affects: lirc (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
