Public bug reported:

I'm using an ATI Radeon 9200 SE (RV280) with the ati X.org driver and
have a 17" Sony LCD (SDM-HS73) connected via the VGA port on the
graphics card.

Since trying out Edgy the splash no longer works. My display shows that
the vertical refresh is outside of the range supported by the LCD
(43Hz). The LCD is capable of 48 - 75 Hz. The horizontal sync is
reported to be okay (46.3 kHz and the monitor supports 28 - 80).

I've tried adding a video= parameter to the kernel when booting to
change the refresh rate but it either doesn't take effect or isn't
solving the problem. I edited the command line when booting and
appended the following: video=radeonfb:[EMAIL PROTECTED] as well as
video=radeonfb:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Neither worked. I don't see any other errors relating to the splash in
/var/log/*. I also tried running dpkg-reconfigure usplash and rebooting
after it rebuilt the initrd but that still didn't solve the problem. If
I remove 'splash' from the kernel command line the console output
displays fine.

cat /etc/usplash.conf
# Usplash configuration file
xres=1280
yres=1024
