I cat confirm this behaviour. I am running Kubuntu 7.10 on Intel processor system, Asus A8F to be precise. I have KDE 3.5.9 installed from unsupported Kubuntu repositories.
Dolphin behaves strange when I load a DVD and upon popup ask it to open the disk in dolphin. The DVD drive starts working very hard, all other processes become very slow.
