This bug was fixed in the package auctex - 11.84-0ubuntu1
---------------
auctex (11.84-0ubuntu1) hardy; urgency=low
* Upload to hardy. Freeze exception granted in LP: #103631
auctex (11.84-0ubuntu1~ppa2) gutsy; urgency=low
* Merge changes from 11.83-7ubuntu1:
- Add missing depends on texlive-base-bin so that the postrm does not
fail on missing mktexlsr (LP: #148469).
auctex (11.84-0ubuntu1~ppa1) gutsy; urgency=low
* New upstream release.
* tex.el: Apply bug fix for "Wrong type argument: sequencep, t" error.
(Addresses LP: #103631)
* debian/rules:
- (build): Add --with-lispdir option so that files get installed into
/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp rather than
/usr/local/share/emacs/site-lisp.
- (binary-indep-auctex): Use "DESTDIR" rather than "prefix", and don't
include the /usr part.
* debian/control:
- Follow Ubuntu Maintainer spec.
