Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver
Most of the time when I lock my desktop (or when the screensaver kicks
in) I am able to log back into the desktop by moving the mouse or
pressing a key and then entering the password.
However sometimes, usually when the screen has been locked overnight or
for a couple of hours, I'm unable to log back in. I move the mouse or
press a key and the mouse pointer appears but the password box doesn't
come up.
On half of the occasions that this happens I'm able to enter the
password and the screen unlocks, however on a couple of occasions I
press any key, enter my password etc and I just get a beep. I have to
force the X session to close (using the good old Ctrl-Alt-Backspace) but
it's a bit frustrating if I leave anything running.
I'm not sure if it helps but I am running the Nvidia GLX New driver on a
Geforce 6200GS (PCI Express) with Xinerama enabled with two screens (one
monitor and a HDTV to the right hand side).
Here's my xorg.conf:
