Thanks for your comment. Since this report does not seem to describe a
real genuine bug, I set the status to invalid but if you can reproduce
this bug even if you did run "sudo update-initramfs -u", feel free to
set back the status of the bug to new. Thanks.

Alex : In Hardy, Xorg 7.3 with xrandr is now included in ubuntu. This
Xorg version does not store values about screen resolution in debconf
anymore, so usplash always get a very low resolution on all computers.
This bug is bug #188764
