Public bug reported:

I just installed the latest Hardy Beta and i have a problem with
connecting to my wireless network.

It could be related to this bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134660
but as far as i could tell most people where saying the bug was fixed in
Hardy so this might be something different.

Iv not been using Ubuntu for a while but I know I have had a lot of
trouble with networking in the past couple of releases. I can't connect
to the network and I'm not sure exactly what the problem is.

As far as I know I am using a RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI. During the
install a message appears saying that no network devices can be found.
So when the install is complete and I go to System > Administration >
Network there is nothing in the location drop down at the top. I'm think
in a older version of ubuntu the network card appeared there - Although
im not sure i might be getting it mixed up with the network tools
dialogue..

When I go to System > Administration > Network Tools I actually get several
network devices listed. These are:
Loopback Interface (lo)
Unknown Interface (wmaster0)
Wireless Interface (wlan0)
Wireless Interface (wlan:avahi)

But then when I try to configure any of these I get a message saying the
interface does not exist. And actually there could be another bug here.
Because if go to either (lo),(wmaster0), or (wlan0) then the configure
button is grayed out. But if I go to (wlan:avahi) where the button is
not grayed out and then go back to either (wmaster0) or (wlan0) the
button is no longer grayed out.

Just out of interest I clicked Applications > System Tools > Hardware
Testing and whilst I couldn't send the report this identified me with
having a RaLink RT2561/RT61 802.11g PCI
