Binary package hint: xserver-xorg
If I try to install xserver-xorg in a freshly setup chroot environment
created by debootstrap, then it fails with

FATAL: Could not load /lib/modules/2.6.24.3/modules.dep: No such file or
directory
2.6.24.3 is the kernel of the host system, of course. The kernel
installed in the chroot is 2.6.24-12, AFAICS.
