Binary package hint: grub
After a problem with booting Ubuntu, it has come to my attention that the
grub-install doesn't detect the sata hard drive devices I have. However,
following this wiki guide I have noticed that the grub command does allow me to
install it on the sata device ("Recovering GRUB Manually" part):

This detects my sata device and installs grub successfully.
The device in question is on sda, a Western Digital WD800JD hard disk,
