** Summary changed:

- I believe the problem may be with my Netgear PCMCIA Adapter. The same issue
occurred under 7.1 where the card does not come up when the computer (Dell
Inspiron 2500) boots. I need to remove it and insert it several times before
it is recognized and then it is fine. This probably caused the upgrade
and/or FIrefox to crash. I don't want to pull the card to give you the model
but I believe it is a WG511T. If it is something else, I will reissue the bug

My summary should have the information you need. Everything seems to
work fine once the card initializes OK, but that can sometimes take
5-10 (or more) insertions in either PC Card slot - there does not seem
to be a pattern. I imagine that is the real cause for this error, but
there may be another tied to ubuntu-docs as well. I was automatically
brought to this site after the problem. It was right after the upgrade
from 7.1 to 8.04 Beta. The inplace upgrade went flawlessly (so far)
with the exception of the reboot at the end of the upgrade not
completing (forcing me to hardboot the computer - no disk activity for
several minutes). Upon reboot though, all was fine with the exception
of the errors noted. If I can be of further assistance, please let me
  know.,

  Thank you
  Ron
