Thanks for reporting this problem and making Ubuntu better.
I can confirm the described behaviour on nautilus on hardy BETA.
However, I believe this is in the parameter of default behaviour. The
shift selection, always refers back to the last clicked position to the
current one. I don't see any meaningful behaviour diverting from the
current one.
Please explain exactly what should happen and why this is a proper
change for the default behaviour. Otherwise, I would like to close this
report.
