I have also this regression. I have an ATI Mobility X700 on my acer Aspire
5024WLMi.
Since Xorg 7.3, X700 works quite nice with the opensource radeon driver.
When i tried liveCD Hardy alpha 6, compiz effects worked fine , but now with
the liveCD hardy beta, 3D acceleration and DRI are enabled but not compiz
effects.
Maybe, I should try with ATi fglrx driver.
