Public bug reported:

I am trying to upgrade from 7.10 to 8.04. Unfortunately, when I try
entering the command on a terminal, this is the output.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ kdesu "/media/cdrom/cdromupgrade"
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 167
  Major opcode: 144
  Minor opcode: 3
  Resource id: 0x0
Failed to open device
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 167
  Major opcode: 144
  Minor opcode: 3
  Resource id: 0x0
Failed to open device
sh:
/media/cdrom/cdromupgrade: Permission denied

I don't know what the X errors are, but that usually doesn't stop a
command working. I'm more worried about the "Permission denied" - what
could be causing that ?
