This seems to have gone away for me in Beta 4 Firefox Beta-1 Ubuntu.

sometimes even if i close the browser normaly the procees is still on and when
I try to open a new web page it says that the process is working and n order
to stop it i have to rebboot. this happens in linux ubuntu 7.10
