Public bug reported:

Trying to run applications requiring root privileges with new user
created with the user manager (K-menu -> System settings -> User
Management) seems to fail, and says "Incorrect password; please try
again." in first attempt and "Conversation with su failed." in the next
attempt.

I could recreate the problem on Kubuntu Edgy Knot 3, Edgy Beta 1 and
Beta 1 with all latest updates (2006-10-8). Recreated the problem on 3
different installations and computers.

How to recreate :
Install Kubuntu, creating the first user under the 6 installations steps.
Log in as the first user and run User Managment from System settings.
Create a new user, and set a the first time password.
Log in as the new created user.
Start Adept Manager (Manage Packages)
Supply the newly created user password in the "run as root - KDE" dialog box -
This returns "Incorrect password; please try again."
Supply the newly created user password in the "run as root - KDE" dialogbox
once again - This time returning "Conversation with su failed."

The problem seems to happen in the console as well. Entering "sudo
aptidude" make the system ask for password, and when supplying the users
password nothing happens - just returning to the CLI.
