Public bug reported:
I am a newcomer to Linux and know little about computers in general. The
problem is that the loudspeaker on the top bar is blocked and there are
no sounds anywhere. Playing a CD or DVD shows the same result.
Increasing and decreasing options are not highlighted. The message is:
"No volume control Gstreamer plugins and/or devices found". I am using
Ubuntu 7.10 and apparently also linux-source 2.6.22.
